Apart from the course described, studies in photography are also provided as
part of Graphics courses, a Higher National Diploma in Photographic Communication and also
leading to GCSE and City and Guilds qualifications.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is the only course in Photo-journalism recognised by the Newspaper Indust
ry. It can also be studied by 'block release' part-time study (as well as full
time) by those already working in the Newspaper industry. Approximately 60
students study in this way. The part-time course is 8 weeks over 2 years. Photo
Journalism courses set up in Norway and Australia took the course at Sheffield
as a model.

THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Applicants must be working as staff or freelance press photographers or
photo-journalists with a N.C.T.J. Certificate in Photo-journalism. Alternatives
are a Degree or working with or on a National Agency or International
Publication. Applicants will be working towards a specialist style in
International Photojournalism. The College will be happy to consider any
qualifications and portfolio as to its suitability.

Although we prefer a standard of education to 5 GCSEs or equivalent plus some photographic experience, as the course is an adult access course, mature students are accepted on their own merit, experience being the main criteria.
