THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ARE:
All students must attend for interview and demonstrate a particular aptitude for
this specialist course. Mature candidates with work experience are encouraged.
This experience and the portfolio is assessed and may give exemption from the
normal minimum qualifications. These are; A BTEC National Diploma or
Certificate or one 'A' level GCE pass plus supporting GCSE passes.
Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals of
any nationality. English language is essential.

The course is a highly intensive study of documentary photography in the
broadest terms. It is designed to give students a thorough grounding in the
skills required of a professional photographer who wishes to pursue a career in
the industry. The course has excellent links with the industry and is recognise
by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ). The 'INDEPENDENT' newspaper offers
an award to a second year student specialising in news photography. The course
has an international reputation founded on the success of its students in a
variety of fields including photojournalism, the arts and community photography.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This course is designed for students wishing to join the mainstream and
independent film & television industry in a variety of roles. There are two
strands to the course. 1 Live action (Film & Video) 2 Animation. Students
normally select their option before entry to the course. The aim of the
course is to produce highly motivated individuals capable of thinking
creatively and able to demonstrate technical skills of a very high standard.
Course has excellent links with industry.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The BA (Hons) photographic studies course is a flexible course which may be
studied either part (5 yrs) or full time (3 yrs). Credit is gained for study at
all levels of the course and can lead to other awards such as: The certificate
of Higher Education (Cert.H.E.) after 2 years, The Diploma of Higher Education
(Dip.H.E.) after 3 years and the Bachelor of Arts (BA) after 4 years. The
course comprises a balanced mix of practical photographic and theoretical
studies. Th syllabus is directed towards 3 principal areas of photography
Documentary, Art Practice, Community and Education. The course is structured
in three parts designed to offer students flexibility and maximum
opportunity for self detemined study and professional direction.
